THE VIETNAM SONG (SAD BUT TRUE) | POEATREEMAN on Xanga

THE VIETNAM SONG (SAD BUT TRUE)

AN UNWANTED WAR

TRIBUTE TO THE MEN AND WOMEN WHO SERVED IN VIETNAM

The tragedies
of Vietnam

were
not the War

the
wounds inflicted

by
our own people

For
they cut deep
into our Hearts

left
us
with our scars to bear

No
flags
to wave
but fist in hand

No
greetings,
but ugly tones

No
embrace,
only empty arms

No
cheers,
but cries of tears

No
remembrances,
only pain

Of
a War
that we once fought

Without
our peoples Hearts.

May
it never be so

If
we
have to fight a War

That
we never go!

Without
our people's Heart,

and with the will to know

That
Freedom is our friend

For
Failure is our enemy

If
we lose the will to win.

A Poeatreeman

The Greatest sin
is not the War

the lack
of Will to win it

For
all is lost
if we lose sight

of
the shores
we stand on

May
one day be ours.
